Home and Work: Today's Industrial Revolution

We are thrilled to be able to launch a new collaborative series of events in conjunction with the Art Gallery of Ontario. Home and Work looks at the way modern industry is changing the way we live in regards to home, labour, transit and leisure.

About Home and Work

Impressionism and Industry

Read an intriguing blog post about how Impressionism and Impressionist artists shaped the way we think about modern urban life. Written by Gregory McCormick, Manager, Cultural and Special Events Programming at Toronto Public Library.

Impressionism and The Liveable City at AGO

The AGO presents a series of talks that explore modern Toronto life and what we can do to make our city more liveable. Check out the entire series, The Liveable City, which is released on March 6. And visit the inspiration for both series at Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro, and more, now on at the AGO. See how this once obscure rebellion against the traditional and establishment-based 19th-century approach to painting changed the way we think about what proper subjects of art can be and how the very view of our own roles as workers, artists, and lovers changed as a result.
