Canada Entertains!

The 20th century has seen Canada’s performing arts community take its place on the world stage. Although it was a thriving scene throughout the century, a native Canadian entertainment industry began to grow in earnest following the second world war. National institutions such as the CBC, the National Film Board, the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada fostered Canadian talent, and the Canadian content legislation of the 1970s created an environment where Canadian entertainers could flourish at home as well as internationally.
