North York Public Library Board and City Council approve opening a community branch at Jane and Sheppard. Space of 3,500 sq. ft (315 sq. m) is leased from Borins & Borins, owners of the Jane Sheppard Mall, built in 1967 at the northeast corner of the intersection, and renovated and expanded in 1987-88. |

Toronto Public Library Board approves "capital funding of the Jane Sheppard Neighbourhood Branch relocation in co-development through Shelter, Housing and Support," 15 July. The project with Youth Clinical Services (replaced by Toronto Community Housing Corporation in 2005) is to build affordable housing and a library branch at 10900 Sheppard Avenue West on the site of former No. 31 Police Station. |
