The eh List Author Series announces fall season
TORONTO (Monday,
August 19, 2013) – This
fall Toronto Public Library celebrates the best in Canadian writing with an
A-List lineup of authors from coast to coast at six branches across Toronto.
East coast
writer Wayne Johnston, in a return to his home turf, gives us his funniest,
sexiest novel yet with The Son of a
Certain Woman. Donna Morrissey brings to life the memories and imaginings
of an elderly Haligonian as she closes off a life of tribulation in The Deception of Livvy Higgs.
New Brunswick
author Christine Eddie will visit in English and in French with her award
winning novel, The Douglas Notebooks; A
Fable. She will be joined by
legendary translator Sheila Fischman.
From Central
Canada, Roy McMurtry will talk about his long life in politics, Ann Ireland
will be joined by a classical guitarist for an evening discussing The Blue Guitar; Susan Delacourt will
explain the new politics of vote shopping and Robert Rotenberg visits with his
new Toronto-based mystery Stranglehold. Charlotte Gray joins The eh List with her
gripping account of the murder of Bert Massey, while the prolific Christian
Cameron will join us for an epic evening, and will bring along a sword or two
in defense of the genre. Don Gillmor joins us with a lively new title, named
after a cemetery: Mount Pleasant tells
us all we need to know about the Rosedale set.
Mary Janigan’s
Let the Eastern Bastards Freeze in the
Dark will raise a few eyebrows, while Tyler Trafford’s true tale of
love-gone-wrong will have you sniffling over the last chapter. Todd Babiak’s Come Barbarians is a non-stop thriller in which the Canadians are
the Barbarians, and C.C. Humphreys, whose historical novels pack action,
surprise and well drawn characters, will talk about his newest book, Shakespeare’s Rebel .
If you have
never seen sword-play in a library, you just might want to join C.C. Humphreys
and Christian Cameron who will demonstrate the parry and thrust which thrills
the readers of their action-packed novels.
The eh List
Author Series runs twice per year, Spring and Fall, and features Canada’s most
interesting new books and seasoned authors.
