Toronto Public Library Board Meeting Highlights
TORONTO (October 23, 2013) – The Toronto Public Library Board met on October
21 at the Toronto Reference Library. Key topics discussed include:
Alice Munro
The
Toronto Public Library Board sent a letter to Alice
Munro,
congratulating her on winning the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Board passed a motion to officially recognize Ms Munro’s
significant achievement and her impact on Toronto book lovers.
Date-Due Slip Advertising
In
April 2013, the Library began a six-month pilot campaign of the advertising
program on date-due slips and receipts. The financial objective of the pilot
was to generate $20,000 in savings, which has been
achieved.
The Board approved continuing with the program in 2014.
2014 – 2023 Capital Budget and Plan
Submission
The
Board approved the revised 2014-2023 capital budget and
plan submission
of $26.9 million gross ($13.2 million debt) for 2014 and $242.8 million gross
($154.5 million debt) over 2014-2023, which meets City debt targets.
