The eh List, Toronto Public Library’s acclaimed Canadian author series, returns in its sixth year with a lineup of award-winning Canadian novelists, including 2014 Scotiabank Giller Prize winner Sean Michaels (Us Conductors), Governor General’s Award winner Kim Thúy (Mãn, Ru), and 2014 Giller Prize finalist David Bezmozgis (The Betrayers).
The spring season launches on March 5 in celebration of International Women’s Day with Giller Prize finalist Kim Echlin on her new novel, Under the Visible Life, with CTV’s Marci Ien. Marina Endicott (Close to Hugh) and Helen Humphreys (The Evening Chorus) present new novels at North York Central Library and City Hall Branch, respectively. On April 11, Daniel Poliquin, one of Canada’s leading French-language novelists, will discuss his latest work, Le vol de l’ange.
Suspense fans get a horror fix in April with the reigning godfathers of the genre, Andrew Pyper and Nick Cutter, a.k.a. Craig Davidson, with the Toronto Star Books Editor Deb Dundas.On April 20, Gail Bowen discusses her latest Joanne Kilbourn mystery,12 Rose Street, and #1 New York Times bestseller Kelley Armstrong (Bitten, the Cainsville series) visits Lillian H. Smith on March 25.
In non-fiction, Shawn Micallef takes an analytical approach to foodie obsession and status anxiety among the creative class with The Trouble with Brunch: Work, Class and the Pursuit of Leisure. Michael Hlinka‘s Stalled: Jump-Starting the Canadian Economy reviews current economic conditions and talks about what Canada can expect over the next decade. On May 28, John Lorinc hosts a panel of historians, essayists and commentators discussing The Ward and Toronto’s first waves of immigrant settlement.
Terry Fallis (The Best Laid Plans), and Kate Hilton (The Hole in the Middle) talk about self-publishing to bestsellerdom at the Toronto Reference Library on June 18.
Celebrating National Aboriginal Day, The eh List presents a special event with Lee Maracle (Celia’s Song) and Marilyn Dumont (A Really Good Brown Girl) on June 21.
Also appearing in the series are the bestselling Catherine Gildiner (Coming Ashore), rising star Kathleen Winter (The Freedom in American Songs), award-winning biographer Rosemary Sullivan (Stalin’s Daughter), and critically acclaimed novelists Russell Smith (Confidence) and Stephen Marche (The Hunger of the Wolf).

Launched in 2009 with funding from the Heritage Canada, The Eh List has become a premiere destination for Toronto lovers of top Canadian literature, hosting established authors and exciting new voices in six branches across the city. Over 275 authors have appeared in the series.
