Third Annual June Callwood Lecture
Human Rights Activist Sally Armstrong on Moral Courage

Toronto (Tuesday, April 28, 2009) – Human Rights activist Sally Armstrong will deliver the third annual June Callwood lecture on Friday, May 1 at 7.30 p.m. at the Toronto Reference Library.  She will speak about moral courage: how taking a stand is a responsibility we all share and how individual action can indeed make a difference.

“Why do most people feel they aren’t rich enough, famous enough or powerful enough to speak out when an issue stirs their souls and demands a remedy?” asks Armstrong.

Sally Armstrong, a long-time friend of June Callwood, is a journalist, author and documentary filmmaker. She is the recipient of an Amnesty International Award for her work documenting the lives of girls and women under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
