TORONTO (Tuesday April 22, 2014) – Toronto Public Library is pleased to host Book Bash Canadian Children's Literature Festival as part of Keep Toronto Reading, the library’s month-long celebration of books. Book Bash returns to Northern District Branch on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
Book Bash Canadian Children’s Literature Festival is a fun-filled, free children’s festival featuring an all-star cast of Canadian children’s authors, illustrators and performers. This year’s exceptional list of guests includes authors Matt Beam, Helaine Becker, Marie Louise Gay, Kyo Maclear, Evan Munday, Liam O’Donnell, J. Torres, 2014 TD Summer Reading Club illustrator John Martz, Applefun Puppetry, Maker Kids and Samba Squad.
“We’re excited to host Book Bash once again and celebrate the joy of reading with children and their families,” said Lisa Heggum, Toronto Public Library’s Child and Youth Advocate. “In our ongoing efforts to help children develop their creativity, we’re including new and innovative programs, like book hacking with Maker Kids, and we anticipate a great turnout.”
In addition to storytimes, music and puppet shows, for the first time this year, young innovators can take part in the Maker Kids “Book Hacking” program where kids will have the chance to redefine books with crafts. Every child who attends receives a free book provided by Scholastic. A full program listing can be viewed at tpl.ca/bookbash.
