Our Pride Collection includes over 4,500 books and movies of interest to 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Toronto. We have curated recommended reading lists for adults, teens and children.
Message from TPL Board
The Toronto Public Library Board acknowledges and celebrates Pride year-round in solidarity with 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer + (2SLGBTQ+) communities. We affirm our commitment to the values of Reconciliation, diversity, equity, inclusion and intellectual freedom by ensuring that the Library remains a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone. By actively including 2SLGBTQ+ communities, we promote opportunities for connection, informed dialogue and understanding.
We invite all Torontonians to visit the TPL's branches and website to discover collections, events, and resources celebrating and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ communities. TPL's efforts to support 2SLGBTQ+ communities include and extend beyond Pride month in June. Throughout the year, TPL provides a range of programs, services and collections that reflect our city's rich diversity and promote equitable access. TPL's Drag Performer and Rainbow Storytimes, among many other offerings for all ages, provide an opportunity to attend programming that promotes understanding and acceptance of each other.
Public libraries have always been champions of the values and principles that uphold democratic principles. TPL is committed to understanding, amplifying, and celebrating the voices of our city's most marginalized communities.
