Community Consultation: Swansea, Niagara and Todmorden branches
Following community consultation, the Board approved service directions for three small neighbourhood branches as follows:
Swansea Branch will remain open and its operation will be reviewed one year after planned renovations to Runnymede Branch.
Niagara Branch will not reopen but the library will pursue a community service partnership in space being provided in a new condominium building planned for 1029 King St. The library will establish a deposit collection, offer Web-based access to electronic resources including the catalogue, provide library programs for adults, and support staff from St. Christopher House operating the deposit collection.
Todmorden Branch will remain open and its operation will be reviewed one year after the planned expansion of the Pape/Danforth District Branch (projected for 2002) and the planned renovation of the S. Walter Stewart District Branch (projected for 2003).
The service review of these branches is part of the library’s 10-year Reinvesting in our Future branch review and revitalization program.
