Partnership: Toronto Public Library/ The Scarborough Hospital
The Scarborough Hospital, which operates a small information distribution centre, and a Patient Education and Information Centre, is negotiating to enter into a partnership with the Toronto Public Library. The Hospital is interested in developing a broader based health care information service and views Toronto Public Library as an ideal partner to accomplish this goal. This partnership will promote awareness of the Library?s public health information resources, advance outreach activities, and further establish a leadership role played by the Library in cooperative ventures.
Urban Community Access Program for Libraries
An application for funding under this program has made in order to enhance and promote the Library?s Internet services. The funding, which complements other Internet funding programs such as the Gates Library Initiative, will be used to support training, connectivity and local content development, such as web site redesign, as well as providing additional Internet workstations.
Energy Management Program
Authorization was given to negotiate agreements with the City of Toronto (Better Buildings Partnership Program), DukeSolutions Canada Inc. and a third party lender to establish an Energy Management Program. It is estimated that an annual cost avoidance of approximately $300,000 will be realized upon completion.
Development of a Logo for Toronto Public Library
A process was approved for the selection and approval of a new logo. A committee including two Board members, two Foundation Board member and staff from Marketing and Communications has selected a designer who has begun to work on this project. Board and public input on the final design will be included in the approval process.
