Toronto Public Library Board - June 26, 2000 Meeting Highlights
Released June 27, 2000
Amendment to Library Board Procedural By-Law
The Library Board approved a by-law amendment that extends the deadline to obtain a quorum from the current 15 minutes to 45 minutes.
Toronto Public Library Foundation Update
Richard Boxer, Chair, Toronto Public Library Foundation, gave an update on the progress of the Foundation and its future plans and priorities. In 1999, the Foundation raised over $4 million in income and pledges, and is examining the feasibility of launching a major capital campaign in 2001. The Board expressed its appreciation to Mr. Boxer and the Foundation for their efforts on behalf of the Library.
Operating Budget Monitoring Report
Current projections indicate that the Library is on target with its budget.
Creating the Future, Treasuring the Past:
The Library's Strategic Plan was approved and staff were instructed to develop a three-year work plan identifying timelines, responsibilities and success measures for initiatives within the Strategic Plan. Although there is no direct implication for the 2000 budget, the plan, once in place, will provide a context and direction for the development and approval of the multi-year capital program and annual operating budgets.
