Donate Books to the Library

Donated books are sold in most branches and proceeds go toward library programs and services.

Donations are only accepted during branch open hours.

What you need to know:

Branches only accept material that can be resold. Donated items must meet the following criteria:

  • Material must be in very good condition and less than five years old.
  • Only English and French books, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays will be accepted. For books, we prefer popular fiction and nonfiction in hardcover, mass market and trade paperbacks.
  • Any other material, including magazines, computer books, textbooks, encyclopaedias and multilingual material will not be accepted by staff.

Please note that we do not add donated material to the collection and do not issue tax receipts for donations.
